Hi CGT,
From the Ventures, to Beethoven, to Queen to some great original pieces. Now, that's a range!
My wife, stepdaughter and I enjoyed your performance at Whistler's in Toronto as well as chatting with Bert and Tyler, your sound wizard.
Thanks for sharing a Spring musical highlight in our city. Hope you are able to spend some time in Niagara Falls en route to Maryland. The best view is from the Canadian side!
Best regards,

Greetings, Paul, Bert and Hideyo:

Thank you so much for your wonderful performance at the Mabel Tainter Theatre in Menomomie, WI on March 14th. We had a guest staying with us this weekend and we brought her to the concert . It certainly capped off a wonderful visit for us all. The Mabel Tainter is such a gem, and mixed with great musicians it was a special treat for us all.

Thank for a great experience.

Hello,

I've stumbled upon your website while browsing the Breedlove website and the result is quite a revelation. To say that your music is interesting is like saying the Pope is a religious guy!
But first -and before you start thinking you have some lady writing to you, let me set the record straight. The web site is in my wife's name - she arranged for our broadband account and when they asked whose name the account should be in, of course she gave her name. Unfortunately, she is close to being a Luddite in computer ability, never taking the time to investigate anything about computers or the Internet. Instead she relies on me to take her to websites and the occasional e-mail. That'll teach me to ask her to arrange for Internet access!
Your music. Getting back to that, I've listened to brief bits of your work and intend to listen to more in a bit, but sending a greeting from corn country seemed more compelling so that took precedence for the moment.
Just a word about finding you on the Breedlove site. Last November, the day after Thanksgiving, I became a Breedlove owner. It's not one of the variety crafted here in the US but it's still a Breedlove -an AC25/SM. Sad to say, I'm currently having to do without my guitar as it had to be sent back to Breedlove (the cantilever support proved to be loose shortly after I got it home; I found the problem while changing strings, wrote an e-mail to Breedlove and now I wait. Even sadder to say, I bought the guitar from Guitar Center (of Evansville, Indiana) and took it there to be sent back to the factory and it was only after 2 months time and a letter to Breedlove that I learned that the guitar had never been sent back -GC had even destroyed the repair order. But Breedlove stepped in for me and had a conversation with GC and now I'm hoping to have my guitar back soon. Maybe next week. It wouldn't be so depressing except that I'm disabled -back surgeries, failed kidney and another not so good -that kind of thing. Add to the list that I'm an O-L-D guy and the picture is almost peachy great. Well, every day above ground is good.
I've been working at learning guitar for quite a few years now -since about 1977 or so. Traded in a Fender 12 bought new in 78 and a Peavey Tracer for the Breedlove, and a bit of cash added as well. So it's not like I'm completely new to git-fiddles. My "guru" is Mel Bay, and I'm into my third book of "Modern Guitar Method". I doubt that I'll ever be able to play anywhere near as fantastically as the music you all make, but it's an aspiration.

Thanks for being there for me to find. Now I'm going to turn the wife on to your material -she's a big YES fan and I know she'll love your music too.

A New Fan,
Scott Hauch

Hi Bert, Paul and Hideyo,

I was SO thrilled to have finally seen you play in person. I have been a fan since I first found your CD at a library in Boise, ID, where I used to live. When I first heard it, I couldn't believe the talent and skill that all of you have mastered. I thought, "why aren't these guys hugely famous?" Being a musician myself, I am just awestruck at your skill, creativity and ability to play so well together.

It was such an honor to meet you in person and a privilege to hear you play. Hearing your music brought tears to my eyes. I don't believe I've ever heard such beautiful sounds come out of a guitar!

I really hope I can see you again and hope you'll play in Boulder next time! Have a great remainder of your tour and I look forward to seeing your posts on your road diaries about your experience playing in Colorado and at Swallow Hill.

I also loved the fact that you recorded the concert that night for all of us to take home on a CD! I totally love that and can't stop playing it. Thank you!!!!!

God bless and play on!

Hey CGT,

You guys really shined last night at Swallow Hill in Denver and I hope you garnered a wider Colorado audience which you richly deserve. You continue to raise the bar with the level of professionalism, musicianship and diverse artistry you bring to every performance. The show last night was easily one of the best concerts I've ever seen and heard -- and I don't mean just CGT concerts -- I mean best concerts I've ever seen, and heard, all genres inclusive.

You played the older material with care, life, and precision, and the newer material is absolutely stellar, original and intricate. I'm so impressed, yet again by your work, and reminded at how much is missed by not seeing you perform live. What an absolute delight! At every turn you are adding yet another slice to your already comprehensive spectrum of musical styles. I'm so glad I have a CD of the concert too. Kudos to you all and Tyler for all his hard work keeping the sound system honed, our ears in bliss, the patch cables plugged in, the van full of gas, and the CDs a burning! Come back soon!

Best regards,

I just got back from your show in Denver at Swallow Hill (you may still be there signing CDs). The tickets were a Christmas present from my dad, who recently took classes at SH. All I can say is you guys are amazing! I think it’s the first time in a long time that I have attended a show that really drew me into the music. And watching you perform, especially the circulation, was just inspiring. Thanks for a great show and memorable experience.

I have a cousin in Dorset who is the singer in a band, I will have to tell him your stories.

I attended your show at the Ocotillo Theater in Artesia, NM last night and was delighted to hear that you are as good or better in person than on CDs and Youtube. The audience was not as large as I would have hoped, but perhaps you will see your way to return again, as I am sure that word-of-mouth is being spread around town regarding your superb musical skills.

If you are ever in town again, or anywhere within reasonable distance to me, be assured that I will attend your show.

Thank you for a very memorable and inspiring experience.

Just saw your performance last night at the Granada in Dallas - an electric performance! It was my first time there and the first time seeing you all since NYC at the now defunct "Bottom Line".

I just want to say it has been a pleasure seeing you over the years. The first time I saw you I was just 18 when you opened up for Crimson at the Wiltern in Los Angeles back in '94. I remember how you guys blew me away and meeting you all after the performance. I still remember when Bert Lams complimented me on my facial chops!!

I have to say I have not seen another band gel as well as you guys do and I thank you for allowing me to witness your musical maturity over the years. You guys kick ass!

Here's to another 18 years!

I enjoyed it when you played at a 4,000 seat hall in Stuttgart, but the intimate setting at the One World can not be matched. Thank you for introducing the very talented vibraphonists from UT. Certainly, this exposure will encourage them in a musical career. Said one young man as he gave Caroline his autograph, "Wow, I've never done anything like this before".

Paul, Bert, & Hideyo,

Once again, I really enjoyed the show last night. I think the addition of the UT Percussion Lab made an exceptional show, even more so. The combination of guitar and vibraphone trios was surprisingly powerful.

I also enjoyed finding out that you all were in fact in the LoCG 20 years ago, for a show that I attended in Poughkeepsie. NY. Some how, I knew that you would also remember that particular show given the "unusual" events of that night. (And you did ;)

Please come back Austin soon!

I'm a great fan of yours, having seen you here at the Bottom Line (R.I.P.) in New York City a while ago. However, I find the new design of Hideyo's Roadcam page a little less friendly than the previous version. The thumbnails are now a little too small to see clearly without having to click through to the larger linked images. Previously I could scan all the images without having to click through. I have to admit I am nearly obsessed with learning what Hideyo had for lunch each day on the road! :-)

In any case, keep up the great work with the music!

Gentlemen,

This past fall, my wife and I attended your concert at The Space in Hamden, Connecticut. As usual, you put on a great show and were generous with your time afterward. In conversation with Bert, my wife Sally mentioned how much she loved Moonlight Sonata, and how she would enjoy hearing CGT play that piece live. Bert's eyes lit up, and he smiled and said "Yes, maybe we can revive that. It's one of my favorite pieces as well." Suffice it to say that we are delighted that you have decided to resurrect Moonlight Sonata, and we look forward to hearing you play it. Sally is too modest to take credit for influencing your playlist, but I am willing to give her at least a little credit!

We shall see you when you come out this way, probably in the summer or fall. In the interim, take good care!

Best Wishes,

Francis and Sally Coan

Caught the show in Cincy last night (10/19/08) and was absolutely blown away. I was telling Bert that my first LP was Ventures Live on Stage in Japan, so I particularly enjoyed Slaughter on 10th Avenue and Apache. The Bach pieces were spectacular. I've been playing guitar for 45 years (exclusively electric) but I just spent an hour surfing the net for info on Breedlove Acoustic/Electric guitars and I just might take the plunge at the tender age of 58. Thanks for a great show and a musical memory I'll never forget.

I was fortunate to catch your show in Charleston, WV this past Saturday. I can't remember when I last heard such beautiful playing! It was a real treat for all in attendance. I thought that Dilek (the viola player) did such a beautiful job on Portland Rain and The Marsh - I was also shocked to read on Bert's diary that there were no rehearsals! Amazing! She was a perfect compliment to yous sound on those two numbers. It was nice getting to meet all of you after the show; I felt like some sort of fanboy idiot, the way I was raving; but I truly hadn't been that affected by a live performance in about 20 years! We look forward to your next visit, and be assured there will be an even larger audience turnout. Hope you all enjoyed playing here - we certainly loved having you! A big hats off to Dave for promoting the show - I met him for the first time that night and he certainly seems to have his heart in the right place. Good luck on the rest of your tour!!!

I finally got to see the CGT play live at the 'Festival D'Ete de Quebec' with F.o.C.K on July 8th....! What a blast seeing you guy's play with Tony and Pat - as well as Adrian, Julie and Eric! I knew I couldn't miss this incredible event! Such a shame that your set was so short though - but Echoes was simply beautiful. I really enjoy the inclusion of Tony and Pat to your ensemble - the percussion and bass add an extra dimension to the CGT that is dynamite.... But that is one of the reasons why I love the CGT so very much - you guys are so multi-faceted, and you never cease to amaze us with the incredibly wide range of musical styles presented - from Toccata and Fugue in D minor to Echoes; from Pastorale in D major to Bohemian Rhapsody; from The Marsh (my absolute favourite of all) to Tubular Bells....truly brilliant! Thank you Paul, Bert and Hideyo, for sharing your beautiful talents with us all :) Maybe one day I will get to attend a complete CGT performance - but living up here in the wilds of far northern Canada (700km north of Winipeg) you'll understand if I don't hold my breath :)

My wife and I caught the show tonight - our 2nd time seeing the group. Rather than hang around and babble at the band after the show, I thought I'd do it here instead! 1. Thank you for playing T.O. tonight. Wonderful show in an intimate space. 2. The FOH sound was excellent. 3. My wife & I saw the CGT open for KC in '95 and my comment to PR & BL after that show was that the toccata & fugue made the hair on the back of my neck stand up. I was thrilled to hear that this chestnut is still in the CGT repertoire. But tonight I was amazed at how different the piece felt/sounded. The notes were pretty much the same, but the "music" was entirely different. Language is utterly inadequate, but the impression I got was that the piece was playing the group, rather than the other way around. The emotion in the piece was off the scale. Goosebump/tingle factor was higher tonight than in '95, if that is possible! 4. Paul's right hand technique seems different from way back in the days of the RFSQ video. Effortlessly floating above the strings - a joy to behold. 5. The new compositions were beautiful. 6. So much of what you played tonight was unforced and unimposing. The unplugged encore was a daring move and the right call for the space.

I have your Bach Steel guitar album and really enjoy it. I ran across it looking for a re-issue of Nonesuch's Jazz Guitar Bach LP by Andre Benichou on CD. Your playing is as good if not better than the original (which is not available on CD). It's a thrill to have this music played on the steel guitar again. (My LP is in a basement somewhere.)

We went to your concert at the Music Mill tonight...just a random date night experience, had never heard of you. WOW! I was impressed by the way each of you has a very technical yet intuitive approach to your instrument. The second half of the concert was even better than the first. Try starting off with another drink or two before you begin, or whatever it was that loosened you up a little at intermission. It's thoroughly enjoyable to watch your passion for great music come through in your movements onstage. I'm the newest CGTrio fan! Thanks again for a great night.

I was glad to see that you were scheduled to be so close to me but was saddened by the fact that I will miss your concert. Maybe next time. Keep up the great work you guys are awesome.

Wonderful to see and hear you at the Admiral in Bremerton. It had been over 7 years since my wife and I last enjoyed a CGT show. We really enjoyed the new material and the older stuff brought back happy memories of other CGT shows. Great to hear the expanded use of effects, and the unplugged bit at the end is always a treat. Many thanks also to Tyler for mixing and burning the show on the spot, great job (sound guys just don't get enough credit!). Thanks for the music over the years and for your dedication to tour and bring it to us live. Hope to see you again soon.

THANK YOU! My neighbor invited me to your concert in Centralia tonight and I enjoyed it so much. The finale was fresh, fishy and fabulous! Even the people who don't know "Bohemian Rhapsody" enjoyed it. The standing ovation proved that. What a great opportunity for the dance troupe to have such great live music to perform to. My favorite of the evening was Echoes. I really enjoyed the variety and talent you all shared with us tonight. Thanks again for bringing world class music to our little community.
